Heart breacking
Broken Dreams is the most appropriate title for this book. As somebody who loves the game, this is heartbreaking. Tom Bower details the corruption, greed and the distinct lack of interest by anybody to fix the problem in great detail without ever getting bogged down. It highlights that the corruption starts from the top with footballs governing body FIFA not willing to adhere to their own rules or in-force them with any conviction. England's governing body are also shamefully to blame something that has spiralled out of control. Bower highlights how agents wedge themselves into a deal that in essence does not require their "help".It is clear from the book that everybody, including the player, has more to gain my moving clubs. Bower exposes some top British managers and holds little back when dealing with footballs chairmen. If you like a corruption tale and something that will make you jaw drop then this is the book for you. You don't need to know anything about football, just a love of sport and heartache at seeing it ruined by greedy men who don't. ... Read more

Honest Reflection.
Being Gazza is an honest look back at his life by Gascoigne. Before this book I was just familiar with the media image of him as, basically, a clown who threw away his talent by too much partying.Now I understand the medical problems underlying his behavior.The book reveals just how much suffering he has gone through and demonstrates how celebrity helps worsen serious medical problems.Takes a lot of courage to be this frank and the book is an easy read for anyone interested in the person rather than just his football career. ... A Matter of Opinion
Football is a game of opinions. Alan Hansen knows this only too well. In his long, distinguished career as a player he had to face critism from the media. Now the boot is on the other foot and Hansen earns a living as one of football's most outspoken and popular pundits. Psycho under review.
If you like and have watched Stuart Pearce play over the years you will like this book, just because you can relate to the things mentioned. Being a Nottingham Forest supporter I was a little disappointed that more of his time at the club and things that happened while he was there weren't written about. A lot of his England career was covered really well which I would expect for such a patriotic person. All in all if your a Psycho fan a pretty good read. ... Read more

A lot of time to think
Mr. Anderson's book is a lesson on how to maintain sainity in the most horrible situations you could every be in; kidnapped and the lose of personal freedom. What a Waste of His Life
I do not want this to sound insensitive, but the one thing I kept thinking as I was reading this book is why was he there?The U.S. government was telling U.S. citizens to leave, the Lebanese government did not care, his employer wanted him to leave, and there were increasing hostage incidents.The book his the story of his capture and the seven years he spent as a captive of this militant group.He does a good job in describing the locations he was in, the people that were his captors, and the other persons that he was with.I thought the most interesting parts of the book detailed his conversations with some of his captors and their views on the situation. An amazing book
Den of Lions: Memoirs of Seven Years by Terry Anderson is one of my favorite books.The book grabbed my attention and kept it.I read the book in one day.Learning of Terry Anderson's ordeal through his eyes and in his words was amazing.Having been only 4 when he was taken hostage, I did not really know much about him until he was released from Lebanon in 1991, when I was 10.I grew up watching the news with my parents and I can remember seeing his return on television.Read more
